Do I need to know exactly what I want before I call ISS? No. In fact, many of our clients call us before they have formulated a build or remodel plan, or developed thier safety plan. Due to our expertise we are an excellent resource for our customers and may suggest designs and materials not envisioned by our clients.

Can my alarm work with an Internet Phone? VoIP ( Voice over Internet Phone) is a service the Cable TV companies are offering, THIS IS NOT COMPATIBLE with your alarm system, according, to the Cable companies “it may work.” In the event of a real emergency “may work” is not good enough! If you are going to use VoIP you must maintain at least one regular telephone line through the Phone Company. VoIP may need additional battery backup to maintain communications in the event of a power outage, and we are not able to reliably communicate with your alarm panel to make changes from our office if you are using VoIP.

What if I have DSL? (Digital Subscriber Line) service is used for a high speed Internet connection that uses a secondary channel over one of your existing voice grade telephone lines. WARNING: some types of alarm panels can be damaged by DSL signals, before having DSL installed we recommend you call us to see if your alarm is susceptible to this signal. If it is we can install a special DSL Filter in the panel. This must be done before you have DSL installed to prevent the DSL signal from scrambling your alarm system program.

Will my alarm work if I only have a Cell Phone? You may now cancel your regular telephone service and “transfer/port” your existing telephone number to cell service. Canceling your regular telephone service will prevent your alarm system from communicating with the Central Station. We can still monitor using a cellular digital radio, call for more info.

How can I tell if my Alarm System is working properly? You can and should test your alarm system monthly to make sure it is communicating with the Central Station! You can do this yourself by staying in your house after arming the system and then tripping a zone by opening a door or walking by a motion sensor. When the siren rings you can then disarm the system and wait for the Central Station to call your house. Make sure you remember your password or the operator will dispatch the authorities.
